A woman from the northeast and her female friend were allegedly stalked, assaulted and molested near Nehru Place in southeast Delhi on Sunday. The incident allegedly took place in the early hours of Sunday outside a club near Eros Hotel. Subsequently, the Delhi Police identified four key suspects in connection with the incident.

According to the women, they were having tea in the area when two men allegedly began passing lewd comments and making racist remarks. The complainants claimed that more men later joined them, leading to a confrontation that soon turned violent.

Women Allege Racial Abuse

In their complaint to the police, the duo alleged they were physically attacked, their clothes were torn, and they were threatened with consequences if they reported the matter.

One complainant accused a man of molestation, while the other alleged she was struck with a bamboo stick as they attempted to leave the spot.

Police said a PCR call about women in distress was received at the Kalkaji police station around 7 am on May 10. Soon after, police officers reached the tea stall near the hotel and found the two women there.

Police Scanned CCTV To Identify Suspects

After examining CCTV footage and questioning witnesses, investigators identified four main suspects. Further, the women were taken to AIIMS for medical examination. The complainants later informed the police that they would be able to identify the suspects.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered at Kalkaji police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to assault, molestation, wrongful restraint, stalking, criminal intimidation and causing hurt.

Police also questioned eight people, including witnesses and bystanders, during the course of the investigation. Furthermore, multiple police teams were formed to raid at locations linked to the suspects to secure their arrest. So far, no arrests have been made.
