The stage is set for a significant improvement in road infrastructure of the State.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has laid the foundation stone for Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) roads with an estimated ₹13,000 crore. The Chief Minister, who reached Kanagal in Nalgonda district on Sunday afternoon, inaugurated the pylon to mark the commencement of HAM road development amid vedic chants. He later went round the meeting venue greeting people before leaving.
The HAM road programme is among the flagship infrastructure initiatives of the Congress Government. The scheme is aimed at improving road connectivity and accelerating economic development across the State.
Billed as the biggest ever road infrastructure programme, the State Government had resolved to reconstruct/upgrade over 13,500 km road network owned by the Roads & Buildings (R&B) and Panchayat Raj departments across the State in HAM model. The ambitious programme envisages restoration of damaged roads, construction of new stretches and upgradation of existing road infrastructure in a majority of constituencies, rural constituencies in particular. It would cover single and double lane roads as well as four lane roads connecting district headquarters.
