CM lays stone for eco-tourism centre at VTR, reviews projects

Bettiah: CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday launched several development projects in Valmikinagar, located along the India-Nepal border in West Champaran district. He also reviewed the progress of key infrastructure works and issued directions to officials for their timely completion.Kumar inspected the restoration work of the Don canal branch service road, where officials informed him around 80% of the project has been completed, including strengthening of the embankment road. The CM asked officials concerned to expedite the remaining work, saying the canal plays a crucial role in irrigation and benefits a large number of farmers.He later visited the site of the Luv-Kush Eco-Tourism Park under construction near the Gandak dam reservoir and reviewed facilities being developed there.

Officials briefed him through site plans about various components of the project. Kumar also inspected the water resources department guesthouse, Valmikinagar Eco Park and assessed the situation at the Gandak barrage.At the Valmiki auditorium complex, the CM laid the foundation stone for the Eco-Tourism Centre under Valmiki Tiger Reserve Division-2 and inaugurated vulture conservation centres at Ganauli and Chiutahan.

He also flagged off eight jungle safari vehicles to boost tourism in the region.Former JD(U) MLA Dhirendra Pratap Singh alias Rinku Singh said, “The chief minister is like a guardian to us and shares a deep connection with Valmikinagar. During his tenure, he has visited the region 16–17 times and has consistently announced major initiatives for tourism and overall development.” The govt is working to develop Valmikinagar as a major eco-tourism destination, which would generate employment opportunities for locals, he added.
