Belagavi: Chief minister DK Shivakumar is making his first official meeting to Belagavi on Thursday, after assuming the charge. He will attend various official programmes and political engagements on the day.
According to the proposed itinerary, Shivakumar will hold a Belagavi divisional level review meeting in the morning, at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS).
At 4pm, he will meet representatives of the South Indian Sugar Mills’ association and discuss issues concerning the sugar sector.At 6pm, he will visit district Congress office and interact with party leaders and workers. He will be staying overnight in Belagavi, before returning to Bengaluru on Friday morning.Meanwhile, around 22 pro-Kannada organisations in Belagavi have sought permission to meet the chief minister. The organisations plan to raise several issues, including recent developments related to Karnataka-Maharashtra border dispute, and demand by pro-Kannada groups to supersede Belagavi city corporation for its refusal to pass a resolution supporting Karnataka’s stand on the border issue.Ashok Chandaragi, president of Belagavi district Kannada organisations action committee, said the venue and timing of the meeting with the chief minister would be finalised in consultation with district authorities.
