CM visits state Class 12 boards topper, assures govt help

Bhopal: Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Monday met the family of Chandni Vishwakarma, a slum girl who emerged as the Class 12 topper in the Madhya Pradesh boards overcoming severe financial stress and hardships, lauding her determination was proof that no goal was beyond reach when backed by courage and perseverance. In a big announcement, the CM said his govt would ensure Chandni receives all entitled benefits under relevant welfare schemes, reiterating he wouldn’t let poverty shackle the academic dreams of meritorious students.Defying expectations, the 18-year-old from the Bhim Nagar slum topped the state boards Class 12, in the Commerce stream, with 98.8% marks. She scored a whopping 494 out of 500.Her result, achieved in the face of acute financial hardship, drew praise from the CM as he came visiting her family to congratulate her and extend his good wishes.Chandni’s performance outshone many students from well-resourced urban coaching centres, highlighting how unshakeable determination can even trump privilege, local educators said. The daughter of a daily-wage carpenter, Rambhuvan, Chandni grew up in the cramped Bhim Nagar slum near the state assembly building. Her father’s earnings could barely cover basic needs, let alone her academic expenses.“We are proud of Chandni’s hard work, dedication and perseverance,” the CM told reporters after meeting the family, adding, “Her achievement is an inspiration for lakhs of students across the state. No goal is beyond reach when backed by courage and perseverance.”
