Delhi owners deny fishermen used their property

Panaji: In the dispute over fishermen’s access in Colva, a public notice on behalf of the Delhi party stated that false allegations and claims were made that there existed an access, and denied that anyone from the fishing community used their property as access. The party, through its advocate Seoula Vaz, stated that no fishermen used the property as access, according to records. However, in order to maintain peace and harmony, the party offered to permit restricted temporary access to the neighbouring property, with mutual understanding for reciprocation from them, until the proposed road from the northern side was done. The public notice stated that the land under Survey No. 77/1-K and 77/1-K-1 was purchased by a group of friends to build residential villas, and added that all requisite permissions were obtained from GCZMA, TCP, and Village Panchayat, Colva. The party stated that they temporarily permitted, in the past, at the request of the legal owner Maria Imaculada Olga Duarte e Vaz, her authorised persons and material to be shifted through their property, as a courtesy and co-operation.“However, taking advantage of this gesture of goodwill, a third party claiming access is unfounded and unfair,” Adv Vaz stated. She further added that Olga is neither a resident of Colva nor belongs to the fishing community.
