Indore: Divisional Commissioner Sudam Khade on Thursday sought a detailed report from Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV regarding recent hostel vandalism case as well as previous incidents of ragging and misconduct reported at the institute.The administration has been directed to submit a comprehensive report in two days, detailing every case and the action taken against the students involved.The move comes after a viral video from the Ramanujan Boys Hostel at IET showed final-year students dancing in a semi-nude state and vandalising hostel property during a farewell celebration. Chairs, tables, windowpanes and even a plastic water tank were damaged during the late-night incident that occurred five days ago.University authorities have so far identified 18 students involved in vandalism, while efforts are underway to identify others seen in the footage. Acting on the recommendations of the disciplinary committee, the university has decided to impose a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of the 18 accused students. Final-year students involved in the incident have also been barred from appearing in examinations until further orders.
“We have taken action in previous cases as per UGC norms and in this case also. We will present the report to the commissioner with action taken on each case,” said DAVV Vice chancellor, Prof Rakesh Singhai.The university administration has vacated the hostel rooms allotted to the identified students.
