Patna: Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram on Sunday demanded the constitution of an all-party committee of the state assembly to inquire into the alleged killing of youth Bharat Bhushan Tiwari of Bilauti village by police in Bhojpur district on June 17.“The incident should be probed impartially by an all-party committee of the assembly so that the truth comes out and the guilty are punished,” Ram said.“Given the nature of the incident, the role of not only the local administration but also the state govt has come under a cloud. An impartial inquiry can be conducted by an all-party committee of the assembly,” he said, adding that the incident was “serious and a matter of grave concern”.
He also alleged that the police had acted like a “group of gangsters”.Ram, accompanied by state and district Congress leaders, visited the family members of the deceased on Sunday and expressed his condolences. He also gathered information from the family and villagers regarding the incident.Tiwari had been raising issues related to floods and soil erosion in the area and had been demanding assured administrative intervention to address them.
