Riniki Bhuyan Sarma hit out at the Congress over its allegations that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife holds multiple passports, saying the party’s entire “rank and file” was “running here and there like people bitten by a mad dog,” and dismissed the claims as “fake” and “AI-generated.”

Responding to allegations that she owns a Dubai property, a Wyoming-based company, and assets worth Rs 52,000 crore, Riniki rejected them outright, calling them baseless and already “confirmed” as false.

On questions around multiple passports, she asked how she could hold three passports as an Indian citizen, adding that “Sharma” is the name reflected in her passport.

In an interview with Lallantop, Riniki said, “When Congress has been bitten by a rabid dog from top to bottom, it is running here and there. What a rabid dog does, the Congress is doing the same -- running aimlessly. All are fake allegations and AI-generated, already being confirmed. Now, we are waiting for justice because I have launched an FIR.”

Congress leader Pawan Khera recently alleged that Riniki possesses hidden assets abroad and multiple foreign passports. These claims surfaced during the 2026 Assam Assembly Election campaign.

Khera stated that Riniki owns a Wyoming-based company in the US, valued at about $34.67 billion (Rs 52,000 crore). He also claimed she holds two undisclosed properties in Dubai, including a residential flat and a hotel unit.

Additionally, Khera accused Riniki of holding passports from the UAE, Egypt, and Antigua and Barbuda, which would conflict with India's single citizenship laws.

Earlier today, a joint team from Assam Police and Delhi Police conducted a search of Khera’s residence in Nizamuddin. This followed the filing of an FIR by Riniki against Khera, accusing him of conspiracy and fraud related to the passport claims.

The Assam Police team, supported by Delhi Police, arrived at Khera’s home for questioning. However, Khera was not present, and the officers waited at the residence for his return.

Sources reported that some material deemed incriminating was seized during the search. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister, reacting to Khera's absence, said that the Congress leader had "fled to Hyderabad."
