The CPI will conduct State-level political and ideological training classes for cadres from June 10 to 15 at Penuganchiprolu in NTR district, according to party State secretary G. Eswaraiah.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Mr. Eswaraiah said party national general secretary D. Raja would attend the programme as chief guest. Leaders and intellectuals from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would deliver lectures on economic, social and political issues.

The CPI leader also extended full support to the Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham’s protest plan on June 1, alleging that the State government failed to ensure remunerative prices for crops such as maize and Virginia tobacco. Farmers cultivating cocoa, pomegranate and sweet lime were facing severe difficulties, he said.

Mr. Eswaraiah announced that the 10 Left parties would launch a State-wide campaign from June 1 to 7 against the increase in petrol, diesel and LPG prices and against the “anti-people policies” of the Central and State governments. ‘rasta roko’ would be staged on June 9.

He criticised the Central and State governments for failing to control inflation, unemployment and rising fuel prices. He demanded that 50% of the oil and natural gas produced in the Krishna-Godavari Basin be allocated to Andhra Pradesh. He also alleged that the government was attempting to privatise APSRTC.
