The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday (July 13, 2026) accused the State government and the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) of forcibly acquiring agricultural land in Undavalli village for the Seed Axis Road project, alleging violations of due process and assurances given to farmers.
A CPM delegation led by State secretariat member Ch. Babu Rao visited the affected areas, interacted with the farmers and later addressed a press conference. Mr. Babu Rao alleged that authorities used bulldozers and police to take possession of land despite pending court cases, destroying standing crops and using force against protesting women.
He said farmers were not opposed to the Seed Axis Road but objected to the acquisition of additional agricultural land beyond what was originally agreed. The CPM leader also questioned the compensation offered, alleging that it was far below prevailing market rates. The party accused the coalition government of abandoning its earlier pro-farmer stand and prioritising the interests of contractors and investors.
The CPM leader demanded an immediate halt to the acquisition, compensation at market value, payment for crop losses, action against officials for alleged excesses, and discussions with affected farmers. It said the agitation would continue until the farmers’ demands were addressed, according to a press release.
