Pune: Cybercrook/s duped a software firm owner (50) of Rs 9.84 lakh by siphoning cryptocurrency from three of his crypto wallets between April 21 and May 7.The man on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Baner police.An officer from the Baner police said the complainant, a resident of Balewadi, owns a software company. He also traded in cryptocurrencies via an online platform. He has multiple crypto wallets. “On May 7, while going through his wallets, the complainant found that cryptocurrencies worth Rs 9.84 lakh were transferred from his three wallets,” the officer said.“The complainant contacted an expert in cyber transactions, who then told him that someone had siphoned the cryptocurrencies from his wallets between April 21 and May 7,” the officer said.He said that prima facie investigations revealed that the suspect/s used the complainant’s blockchain addresses and private keys to siphon cryptocurrencies. “We were investigating how the suspect/s gained access to the victim’s crypto wallets,” he said.
