Inside GlobalLogic’s STEM Push from Pune

India’s STEM ecosystem is expanding at an unprecedented pace. Between August 2024 and August 2025, the STEM job market grew 7.4% year-on-year, touching 7.3 million roles. IT services, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), BFSI, Healthcare and Pharma are driving this surge. Pune, long celebrated as an education capital, is now steadily emerging as a hub for robotics and experiential learning.
Yet, beneath this momentum lies a structural gap. Access to STEM education beyond secondary school remains uneven. For many girls, the challenge is more fundamental—59% cite financial constraints as the primary barrier to continuing STEM education.
It is within this context that GlobalLogic is strengthening its CSR vision. Through its flagship Educate to Empower program, the company has already impacted over 4,700 students across six STEM Innovation Labs in India. On September 24, 2025, GlobalLogic has successfully established the Robo Shiksha Kendra, a state-of-the-art STEM Tinkering Lab in Pune, serving more than 760 students and 46 teachers. The lab will offer hands-on learning in robotics, artificial intelligence, coding, and electronics, in the presence of senior GlobalLogic leaders, education experts, and government dignitaries.
In this conversation with Monika Walia, Head – Corporate Social Responsibility, GlobalLogic, we explore how the company is shaping equitable access to STEM, building teacher capacity, and creating a long-term innovation pipeline for India.

How is GlobalLogic shaping equitable access to STEM education for children in underserved communities through its CSR vision?
Educate to Empower, GlobalLogic’s CSR flagship initiative, is focused on providing tech-based education. The program supports the development of inclusive, equitable, and quality learning ecosystems by providing underprivileged students with access to advanced technologies, structured training, and real-world exposure. Through this initiative, GlobalLogic reinforces its commitment to co-creating societal impact and nurturing India’s next generation of changemakers. For example, the newly launched Robo Shiksha Kendra in Pune is equipping 763 underserved girls with hands-on exposure to future-ready technologies. This program also prioritises sustainability by training STEM teachers, ensuring long-term integration of these subjects into classroom learning.
How has the STEM Innovation Lab program grown from Noida in 2022 to Pune in 2025, and what impact has it created across India?
Since its launch in Noida in 2022, GlobalLogic’s STEM Innovation Lab program has grown into a nationwide initiative creating meaningful and measurable impact. The first lab in Noida supported 580 students, followed by the Bengaluru lab in 2023, which expanded the program’s reach to 980 students. By 2024, the model scaled rapidly with four additional labs established across the country, bringing advanced STEM education directly into underserved schools. In 2025, their new lab in Pune is equipping 763 underserved girls with hands-on exposure to future-ready technologies. Today, six fully equipped labs across India serve more than 4,700 students, fostering hands-on learning in robotics, AI, electronics, and coding, and strengthening the pipeline of young innovators across the country.
What do stories like Pune’s Future Femmes competing at the World Robot Olympiad tell us about the power of STEM Innovation Labs?
The Pune’s Future Femmes team qualifying for the World Robot Olympiad is an example of how girls from the communities receive hands-on exposure to robotics, AI, and coding, they gain the confidence and capability to compete nationally and solve real problems. As seen in their AI and IoT project on water quality, which stood out among 293 teams. Their achievement also reflects GlobalLogic’s wider commitment to advancing women in technology. The company’s culture across locations encourages women to grow as engineers and leaders through mentorship, inclusive workplaces, and continuous learning. This commitment flows into its CSR initiatives by ensuring quality education to girls from underprivileged communities to have access to the same future-ready tools, training and 21st century skills.
Why is teacher capacity building essential for long-term STEM learning, and what steps is GlobalLogic taking to strengthen it?
Teacher capacity building is critical for long-term STEM learning because India faces a significant shortage of qualified STEM educators, with over 9 percent of STEM teacher posts vacant nationally. This shortage is compounded by outdated teaching methods, limited access to specialized training programs, and insufficient infrastructure in many schools, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Without trained teachers, students are often confined to rote learning and miss out on hands-on experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, and practical problem-solving skills. As a result, even well-equipped labs or technological resources cannot achieve their full potential, and students remain underprepared.
GlobalLogic is addressing this by providing structured teacher training as part of its STEM Innovation Labs. Teachers are equipped to integrate robotics, AI, coding, and electronics into regular classroom learning, ensuring sustained STEM education. This mirrors GlobalLogic’s broader approach to talent development, where women engineers are empowered through mentorship, continuous learning, and professional growth
What are GlobalLogic’s plans to scale the Educate to Empower program to more schools and communities across India?
GlobalLogic plans to expand the Educate to Empower program to more such schools across India by replicating its STEM Innovation Lab model and scaling through partnerships that enables the young innovators to spread their wings and be future innovators of India.
Our aim is to provide the best learning opportunities for children from the underprivileged communities as what they lack is only such opportunities which can be created through the right learning environment. We are currently enabling STEM learning to around 5000 children through our STEM Innovation labs and we look at reaching out to over 10K children through STEM in near future
How is GlobalLogic aligning its innovation-focused CSR investments with India’s wider innovation mission?
Our innovation-led commitments align with India’s mission to drive technology-led growth. By making learning in AI, robotics, coding, and automation accessible to underserved schools, we are creating opportunities and building a strong pipeline of future technologists, while also complementing GlobalLogic’s digital engineering expertise. Our STEM labs are equipping young minds with visual, engaging and hands-on experiences that reduce drop-out rates and spark curiosity.
How do STEM skills among students complement GlobalLogic’s digital engineering strengths and support a future talent pipeline?
GlobalLogic’s STEM Innovation Labs are providing students with hands-on skills in robotics, AI, coding, and electronics. By nurturing critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and technical confidence from a young age, these programs create a strong pipeline of future technologists. Additionally, GlobalLogic’s other CSR initiatives, such as Digi Vidya Shala and support for inclusive schools like Shradhanjali Integrated Primary School, reinforce digital literacy and inclusive learning for underserved and differently-abled children. Together, these efforts align with India’s wider education and innovation goals, ensuring a steady flow of skilled, tech-ready talent that supports both GlobalLogic’s engineering expertise and the country’s growing technology ecosystem.
