Pepe Marti gives fans a closer look at Formula E's tiny helmet camera

Pepe Martí shared the educational video on Instagram and showed a tiny camera attached to a flat cable. "Have you ever wondered how we get the driver's-eye view from inside the helmet? Well, this is how. This tiny camera, less than one centimetre square, is how we capture the footage from inside the helmet," he said.He then introduced a helmet technician, who further explained the design of the tiny camera. He said, "This is exactly how the camera looks when we install it.

We have to work with, I would say, three different departments. Of course, the FIA has to ensure that this is safe and that it complies with all the regulations. We also cover it with the fabric, not just for aesthetic reasons but also for safety, because of the flame-resistant properties of the material.

Of course, the driver has to be comfortable with it."

Marti confirmed that the drivers do not feel the camera at all. The technician continued, "The helmet has to be like that, and then we work with the broadcaster.

We connect this with this cable that runs next to the radio. It connects to the transmitter - the same transmitter that sends the onboard footage also transmits this camera. It's one extra onboard camera. How do we do it? We route it on the outside, but on the inside we have one of our secrets that I can tell you.

This is one of our cables. It's flat, but it's still a cable, which means it's not heavy at all and doesn't bother you.

It doesn't change anything about the helmet."Praising Marti's social media skills, Formula E commented: "We are LIVING for Pepe's content creator era." Another fan called him the "best teacher ever".Pepe Marti and the rest of the Formula E grid will now head to China for the Sanya E-Prix.
