Dancer dies on stage during temple festival in Karur

Trichy: A senior dancer collapsed and died on stage while performing at a temple festival near Karur on Thursday night. The incident, captured on video, went viral on social media, sparking widespread reactions.M Jeevanantham alias ‘Dancer Jeeva’, 50, a dancer from Velayuthampalayam, Karur district, was known for performances at temple festivals and local events.On Thursday night, Jeeva was performing with his troupe at a consecration festival in the industrial estate area near Karur. While dancing enthusiastically, he suddenly fainted and collapsed on stage.Panicked audience members and organisers rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Preliminary reports suggest he suffered a sudden heart attack.According to sources, Jeeva had built a strong fan base through his lively performances across rural stages in the past three decades. His death has left the local dance community and residents saddened.A video went viral on social media attracting widespread condolences. Many also expressed empathy that the dancer passed away while enjoying his passion.A case was registered in Pasupathipalayam police station under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). An autopsy was conducted at Karur government hospital.Further investigation is under way.
