New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday submitted the medical documents of Sarabjit Singh, accused of breaching security at the Delhi Assembly on Monday, to a govt hospital for examination.Police said the documents, provided by Singh’s family members, indicate that he has been suffering from depression for several years and has been undergoing treatment.
Investigators said a psychiatric assessment may also be sought.Police have recorded statements of at least 10 people in connection with the incident.According to the FIR registered on the complaint of CRPF personnel, the incident occurred around 2.10 pm when a white SUV sped towards Gate No. 2 of the Delhi Assembly. Despite being signalled to stop, the driver rammed the closed gate, damaging it and the boom barrier in an attempt to force entry.The FIR further stated that the driver then drove towards a CRPF personnel in an apparent attempt to run him over, forcing the security official to jump aside. The vehicle proceeded to the main porch, where the driver allegedly threatened security personnel and drove recklessly inside the premises, obstructing movement before being detained.
