Delhi CM's push to get youth to play active role in nation-building

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday urged young Indians to become drivers of change and active contributors to nation-building while addressing the ‘Youth for Viksit Bharat - MY Bharat Youth Convention’ at Thyagaraj Stadium.

Calling the youth the country's greatest strength, she encouraged them to channel their energy, talent and innovation towards building a developed India by 2047.

The convention, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, brought together more than 6,000 young participants from across the country, including entrepreneurs, sportspersons, artists, content creators, UPSC aspirants and other achievers.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, Youth Affairs Secretary Pallavi Jain Govil and several distinguished personalities from various fields were also present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, Gupta described the convention as a celebration of India’s youth power and said the presence of talented young achievers from diverse backgrounds reflected the country’s vast potential.

She remarked that the event felt like “stars on earth”, with participants representing excellence across entrepreneurship, sports, arts, governance and education.

"When young entrepreneurs, athletes, artists, public representatives, content creators and those who have succeeded in highly competitive examinations such as the UPSC come together on one stage, it becomes a powerful reflection of India's diverse talent and limitless potential," she said.

The Chief Minister praised the initiative and congratulated Mandaviya for creating a platform that not only recognises young achievers but also encourages them to contribute meaningfully to the country’s progress.

She said the convention demonstrated that India’s youth are prepared to shoulder greater responsibilities in shaping the nation’s future.

Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, Gupta said the country’s young population remains its greatest strength. She noted that Indian youth have made significant contributions in fields ranging from sports and entrepreneurship to technology, arts, content creation, education and public administration.

Their achievements, she said, are driven by hard work, discipline and determination.

Urging young people to become active partners in national development, Gupta said that every step taken by an individual contributes to the progress of the country as a whole.

She stressed that the youth would play the most crucial role in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat-2047’.

Delhi CM also added that while not everyone may get an opportunity to die for the country, everyone has the opportunity to live for it and contribute to its growth and prosperity.

She expressed confidence that India’s youth would emerge as the strongest pillar in the journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
