Gachibowli police have arrested a delivery executive in connection with the abetment of suicide of a 23-year-old woman who died in a co-living hostel in Gachibowli.
The arrest follows a complaint lodged on Saturday by Devarampally Ravi Kumar regarding the death of his niece, Molli Durga, who was residing at Elite Co-Living Hostel.
According to the complaint, Durga was in a relationship with Sai Kumar Posti, a delivery executive, and the couple frequently quarrelled over his alleged harassment and irresponsible behaviour. Police said that on the night of June 5, an argument reportedly broke out between the two over his alcohol consumption.
Following the quarrel, Durga allegedly jumped from the hostel building at around 10 p.m., sustaining severe injuries. She was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The complainant alleged that continuous harassment by the accused had driven the woman to take the extreme step and sought legal action against him.
After examining the complaint and conducting a preliminary investigation, police registered a case and arrested Sai Kumar Posti on charges of abetment of suicide. The accused is being produced before a court for judicial remand.
Further investigation is underway.
