Dengue cases spike in Thiruvananthapuram

There seems to be no let-up in dengue cases in the State, with 150 confirmed cases and 330 probable cases being reported on Friday. If earlier, most of the cases were being reported from Palakkad, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode, cases are showing a definite spike in Thiruvananthapuram.

The capital district reported 31 cases of dengue and two dengue deaths, including that of a 14-year-old boy. Cases are currently being reported from Kannammoola, Vellarada, Parasuvaikkal, Venpakal, Veli, Nanthancode, Rajaji Nagar, Kanjiramkulam, Vattiyurkavu, Nemom, Kunnathukal, Parassala, Thonnakkal, Chakka, Kadakampally, Beemapally, Nagaroor, Thonippara, Muttada, Pulimath, Keezhattingal and Tholicode.

In all, five deaths, including two dengue deaths and three due to leptospirosis, influenza A, and amoebic meningoencephalitis, were reported from Thiruvananthapuram. This apart, Ernakulam reported a leptospirosis death; Malappuram reported a death due to Hepatitis A and Kottayam reported a rabies death as well as a leptospirosis death. A total of 84 influenza cases and 15 leptospirosis cases were also reported from various parts of the State on Friday.
