SIR review meeting in progress
Berhampur: Deputy election commissioner Gyanesh Bharati, along with officials from the Election Commission of India, reviewed the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Ganjam district at Gopalpur.Ganjam collector Keerthi Vassan V briefed him on the status of the exercise. Before the start of the SIR, the district had 29,99,782 voters across 13 assembly constituencies. Booth-level officers (BLOs) have distributed enumeration forms to 99.86% of voters so far. As many as 59.36% forms have been digitised after verification by BLOs, sources said.A total of 3,124 BLOs and 311 BLO supervisers have been deployed for the exercise.
The collector said the district has received good public cooperation. “We have apprised our progress to the deputy election commissioner in the review,” he said.Bharati also interacted with BLOs and supervisers, seeking feedback on ground-level challenges and possible solutions. Expressing satisfaction over the progress, he directed officials to complete the process well before the deadline and ensure no eligible voter is left out.
While the official deadline for distribution and submission of forms is June 28, the collector said the administration is trying to complete the process ahead of schedule with public support.Several district-level officers and additional chief electoral officer Sushant Kumar Mishra were present during the review. Bharati also held a state-level review of the SIR with district collectors in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
