Aysha Ruby, chief executive officer of Ruby Vesture Exports and the first Indian senator of Germany’s BWA (Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade), has urged the next generation of designers to prioritise eco-friendly textile production and promote reuse.

Speaking at a fashion design workshop at Ideal Arts and Science College, Cherpulassery, on Wednesday, Ms. Ruby stressed the social and environmental responsibilities of fashion.

“Fashion is not merely an aesthetic pursuit; it carries social and environmental responsibility,” she said, pointing out the growing global demand for ethically produced and sustainable fashion products.
