Despite warning from DGP, bribery continues in police ranks as ACB traps officers across Telangana

A series of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raids across Telangana has exposed continued instances of bribery among police personnel, despite a strong warning issued by Director General of Police B. Sivadhar Reddy urging the force to stay away from corruption.

In a letter written soon after assuming office in October last year, the DGP had cautioned that “the uniform and corruption cannot coexist”, stressing that all personnel, from Home Guards to IPS officers, must function with integrity, transparency and empathy towards the public. He also made it clear that police stations should not be used for civil settlements and warned of strict action against any misconduct.
