Thousands of devotees thronged the streets of Madurai to welcome Lord Kallazhagar, who entered the city on Thursday morning.

Devotees gathered for ‘Ethir Sevai’ to catch a glimpse of the deity who, mounted on a golden palanquin, left his abode at Alagarkoil on Wednesday evening, as part of the annual Chithirai festival. Lord  Kallazhagar began his journey to Madurai around 6.15 p.m. on Wednesday from Alagarkoil. After a halt at Appan Tirupathi, he reached Moondrumavadi around 6 a.m. on Thursday.
