Director General of Prisons Soumya Mishra visited the newly-constructed district jail in Siddipet on Saturday and reviewed the arrangements ahead of its inauguration by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The DG inspected the venue for plaque installation and issued instructions to prison officials to ensure smooth conduct of the inauguration. She held discussions with Siddipet Commissioner of Police Sadhana Rashmi Perumal on coordination measures for security and other arrangements.

The new Siddipet District Jail will have room for 415 inmates, aimed at reducing over-crowding in nearby prisons. The facility will also include high-security ‘Swastik Cells’ designed for housing high-risk prisoners.

Meanwhile, she inspected the jail premises, along with officials including N. Muralibabu, IG Prisons, D. Srinivas, DIG Prisons, G. Ratnam, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, and engineers from the Police Housing Corporation. The team reviewed the quality of construction and progress of works.
