Dhanbad Election Training: 239 Govt Employees Face Show Cause for Absence

Dhanbad: District election officer-cum–deputy commissioner Aditya Ranjan has issued show-cause notices to 239 govt employees for remaining absent from the first mandatory training session convened for the municipal (general) election.The DC said that the employees had already been deputed as polling personnel for election duties and appointment letters in this regard were sent to them earlier. However, despite prior intimation, they failed to attend the scheduled training session. He termed their absence from such a crucial exercise as an act of wilful negligence, indiscipline and dereliction of duty, besides a violation of their constitutional responsibilities related to the conduct of elections.Taking a serious view of the matter, the district election officer directed all 239 absent personnel to submit their written explanations to the Personnel Cell within 24 hours, failing which further action may be initiated as per rules.Later in the evening, Ranjan conducted an inspection of key election-related facilities to ensure smooth and error-free conduct of the upcoming civic polls.
