Dhanbad Iskcon Temple Overcomes LPG Shortage with Traditional Cooking Methods

Dhanbad: The preparation of 'prasad' at the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) temple in Jagjivan Nagar was affected due to the ongoing shortage of LPG cylinders.In response to the crisis, temple authorities arranged an alternative cooking system using a coal-fired stove to ensure that devotees continued receiving prasad without interruption.More than 300 devotees are associated with the Iskcon temple in Jagjivan Nagar, where prasad is prepared daily and distributed among visitors and residents of the temple.However, the persistent shortage of LPG cylinders recently created serious difficulties in preparing food for the devotees. Facing the challenge, temple authorities decided to construct a traditional brick stove and began using wood, cow dung cakes, and coal as fuel to continue cooking.Sunita Mataji, associated with the temple management, said, “Devotees come here from distant places, and arranging food for them is our responsibility. Because of the gas shortage, we had to look for an alternative solution,” she said.
