Dhanbad: The management of Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH) on Friday constituted an inquiry committee to probe a reported clash between two groups of intern doctors on the night of April 15.Five students sustained injuries in the clash which took place in a hostel on campus. The injured medicos, identified as Prakhyat Jain (24), Shivam Modak (26), Ronit Shah (26), Ayush Kumar (23) and Shivam Sinha (25) are currently undergoing internship after completing their medical studies and are associated with hospital services.SNMMCH principal Dr R K Mahto said strict action will be taken against the guilty based on the committee’s findings.
“We have initiated an internal probe, and several students have already been questioned. The exact cause of the clash is yet to be ascertained,” he said.Sources within the college revealed that tension had been brewing between the two groups for several days, allegedly due to past disputes among students. However, the exact trigger for the violence remains unclear.A meeting was also convened by the college administration on Thursday, where it was unanimously decided to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Authorities are also trying to determine the total number of students involved in the clash.
