Excitement is in the air as the film 'D55', headlined by Dhanush and Sai Pallavi, has kicked off production with a traditional muhurat puja. Under the direction of Rajkumar Periasamy, this cinematic venture also welcomes Mammootty in a pivotal role. This marks a fresh pairing for Mammootty and Dhanush while Sai Pallavi reunites with Dhanush for an exciting second round.
Dhanush and Sai Pallavi’s highly anticipated film, tentatively titled ‘D55’ went on floors. On Friday, February 6, the makers officially launched the project with a traditional muhurat puja ceremony.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film also has Mammootty in a crucial role. Dhanush showed up wearing a white shirt and dhoti for the puja ceremony, while Sai Pallavi slipped into a printed violet saree.

, who has roped in to play a pivotal role in the film, was also present at the puja. She was decked up in a pastel kurta set. The makers of the film dropped pictures of the puja ceremony and said, “When all smiles led to a powerful start.

All about ‘D55’
Tentatively titled ‘D55’, the upcoming Tamil film is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, best known for his previous film ‘Amaran’ starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. This film marks Sai Pallavi’s second collaboration with Dhanush. The two have previously appeared together in ‘Maari 2’, directed by Balaji Mohan. The makers of ‘D55’ announced Sai Pallavi's inclusion in the project recently.
In a post shared on X, they said, "She's about grace and strength - all at once. Welcoming everybody's favourite @Sai_Pallavi92 on board #D55. The hit combo returns to the big screen."This film also marks Mammootty’s first collaboration with Dhanush. Though they had collaborated for the 2013 Mammootty-starrer Malayalam film ‘Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath’, Dhanush had appeared in a cameo role. The makers were thrilled to bring Mammootty on board. “When the Big M chooses a story, it becomes history. Super excited to welcome Megastar @mammukka onboard #D55! We are honoured! Thank you #Mammootty sir,” they said, while confirming the actor’s presence in the cast.
The music for the film is composed by Sai Abhyankkar. Further details about the project are still under wraps.Meanwhile, Dhanush was last seen in the Hindi film ‘Tere Ishk Mein’, directed by Aanand L Rai.
