Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol. Thirumavalavan on Saturday denied making any derogatory remarks about former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran and .Jayalalithaa during the recent memorial event for former Chief Minister and DMK leader M. Karunanidhi.

Speaking to media persons at the Tiruchi airport on his arrival from Chennai, Mr. Thirumavalavan said his comments at the event had been misunderstood by AIADMK leaders. He said his intention was to highlight how, during the AIADMK tenures under both leaders, opposing Karunanidhi remained a primary political focus, and how Brahminical forces also targeted him consistently. “I did not say anything that would insult MGR or Jayalalithaa. Both transcended boundaries and cannot be confined to narrow definitions,” he said.

On the DMK-led alliance, the VCK leader asserted that there was no internal rift. “Differences of opinion exist between parties, but they do not threaten the alliance or our ties,” he said and added that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami should explain on what basis he claimed otherwise. He declined to comment on the rumblings within the PMK.
