BJP’s newly-elected MLAs — Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Ashok Kirtania, Kshudiram Tudu, and Nishit Pramanik — were sworn in as ministers in the West Bengal cabinet led by Suvendu Adhikari at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground on Saturday.

Suvendu Adhikari, the ‘giant killer’ who defeated Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur, took oath as the Chief Minister after leading the BJP to a stellar victory for the first time in the state.

State governor, RN Ravi, administered the oath of office to Suvendu Adhikari and his cabinet members.

  2. Agnimitra Paul: A fashion-designer by profession, she joined the BJP in 2019. A year later, she was appointed as the state president of the BJP Mahila Morcha.
  3.  Nisith Pramanik: A key leader in the BJP, he was a member of the 17th Lok Sabha representing the Cooch Behar constituency, where he served as the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and Youth Affairs and Sport.
  4. Ashok Kirtania: Hailing from Bangaon, Ashok Kirtania represents the Bangaon Uttar (SC) constituency in North 24 Parganas.
  5. Kshudiram Tudu: Kshudiram Tudu represents the Ranibadh constituency.

West Bengal Assembly Election

In the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026, the BJP clinched a landslide victory, bagging 207 seats in the 294-member Assembly and ending the 15-year-old rule of the TMC. The Trinamool, on the other hand, won 80 seats.
