According to police sources, the tourists had arrived in Jaipur from Delhi by taxi and were planning to travel onward to Ranthambore and Agra.

The case of two young Japanese tourists who had gone missing under mysterious circumstances in Jaipur earlier this week has now been resolved, with police confirming that both individuals have safely returned to Japan. The development has brought relief to law enforcement authorities and the tourism department, as the matter had remained sensitive for several days.

According to police sources, the tourists had arrived in Jaipur from Delhi by taxi and were planning to travel onward to Ranthambore and Agra. The taxi driver, Pikendra Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh currently residing in Delhi, informed investigators that he had dropped the pair at a hotel in the Brahampuri area on February 7. Later that evening, the tourists told him they were heading to the Ashok Nagar area for dinner and went to a restaurant, but failed to return.

The driver reportedly waited through the night and into the next morning before lodging a missing persons report at Ashok Nagar police station on February 8. During the initial investigation, police found the tourists’ bags still inside the taxi, containing clothes, personal belongings and documents, which heightened suspicion about their sudden disappearance.

Photocopies of their passports identified them as Hibikki Shibba and Yuma, both from Japan, who had arrived in Delhi on a tourist visa on February 6. Police examined CCTV footage from nearby areas, which showed the two entering the restaurant and leaving on foot a few minutes later. However, no clear leads emerged after that point.

Authorities questioned hotel staff, restaurant employees and local residents, and also examined mobile location data, call detail records and hotel booking information. The discovery of their belongings in the taxi and the lack of contact intensified concerns, with investigators exploring all possibilities, including kidnapping, an accident or voluntary departure.

Police have now officially confirmed that both tourists have safely reached Japan, bringing the case to a close. Officials described the outcome as a major relief, noting that the development has helped address security concerns raised during the investigation.
