Discom sets up camps to fix billing, smart meter glitches till June 30

Mega camp organised at Sector 18 billing office near DLF Mall in Noida

Noida: Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited is holding consumer camps across Noida and Ghaziabad until June 30 to resolve billing discrepancies, smart meter malfunctions, app glitches and KYC updates.

Around 500 complaints have been resolved in Noida till Thursday, while 1,400 issues have been addressed in Ghaziabad already.

Both districts serve over 15 lakh consumers.In Noida, camps are set up at Jewar, Dadri, Dankaur and Sector 18 offices. In Ghaziabad, camps have come up at 10 locations across three zones. In Zone 1, camps have been set up at Nehru Nagar, Pratap Vihar, Kamla Nehru and Lal Kuan. Camps have been set up at Loni, Lalbagh, Indrapuri, Chaman Vihar, Pavi and Mandola under Zone 2, and in Zone 3, another camp has been set up in the trans Hindon area at the Sector 16 substation in Vasundhara.Services available at these camps include on-site resolution of smart meter complaints, bill correction or revision, 1912 complaint registration and resolution, mobile number update facility, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited Smart App information, smart meter usage and awareness assistance. The move comes following a directive from the discom’s managing director, Ravish Gupta. He said, “Officials have been directed to provide better facilities and ensure the prompt resolution of issues faced by consumers.

The discom’s executive engineer, Shivam Tripathi, said, “Out of the 500 resolved complaints in Noida, billing and smart meter-related issues dominated. Other queries addressed include contact detail updates and app usage information.”In Ghaziabad, the executive engineer of Zone 3, Amit Jha, said 764 complaints have been resolved at the mega camp set up at Trans Hindon Sector 16 substation in Vasundhara. Zone 1’s executive engineer, Avinash Agrhari, told TOI that a total of 705 complaints were resolved till Thursday across four camps held at Nehru Nagar, Pratap Vihar, Kamla Nehru and Lal Kuan.

Of these, the majority of 301 complaints were related to bills, while 289 issues were related to mobile number updates.

Also, 56 complaints were related to UPPCL Smart App operations and 59 were other complaints.

Mega camp at Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad

In Zone 2 in Ghaziabad, the discom’s superintending engineer told TOI that out of 34 complaints, 28 were resolved on the spot and the remaining 6 will be resolved in a couple of days.So far, a total of 6,014 complaints have been received across the mega camps organised in 14 districts across western UP, with 5,851 complaints resolved on the spot.
