A sudden leakage on the 1000 mm diameter main pipeline stretching from Lingampally to Banjara Hills, part of the Godavari Drinking Water Project that supplies water to Hyderabad, prompted emergency repair works on Saturday.

As a result, drinking water supply to various parts of the city remains affected. Officials said works are being carried out on a war footing and water supply will be restored to normal once the works are completed.

The affected areas include Erragadda, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Vengalraonagar, Yellareddyguda, Sanathnagar, NIMS, Banjara Hills, Venkatagiri, BS Maqtha, MS Maqtha, and Somajiguda.

Board Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy instructed officials to supply water through tankers to ensure residents in the affected areas do not face inconvenience due to the disruption.
