Kanpur: Amid an extreme heatwave, Kanpur district magistrate, Jitendra Pratap Singh, on Thursday ordered special arrangements for both people and birds affected by the scorching weather.As part of the initiative, bowls filled with water were placed at various locations in the Collectorate complex to provide relief to birds struggling in the extreme temperatures.At the same time, arrangements for cold drinking water and ORS packets were made for traffic policemen, home guards and PRD personnel who have been continuously performing duty under the blazing sun.DM said that in view of the heatwave alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, everyone needs to exercise special caution.
Appealing to the residents, he urged them to ensure that they place water in a container, trough, or earthen bowl at their homes, rooftops, shops, offices, and other safe spots in their surroundings.He emphasized that during this period of intense heat, even a small effort can prove to be a lifesaver for birds, squirrels, and other living creatures..A team of volunteers led by R.K. Saffad, secretary of the Red Cross Society, raised awareness among passengers and the general public at Kanpur Railway Station regarding precautions against the heatwave.The DM said that even slight negligence during a heatwave could lead to serious health problems.
