DMK MLA Anitha R Radhakrishnan was taken into custody after the Madras High Court rejected his anticipatory bail petition. The arrest comes amid allegations of inflammatory remarks against Chief Minister Vijay during a public event.

DMK MLA Anitha R. Radhakrishnan arrested over remarks against Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay.
DMK MLA Anitha R Radhakrishnan was arrested by Tamil Nadu Police on Friday after the Madras High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail petition in connection with a case over his objectionable remarks against TVK president and Chief Minister Vijay.
According to police, the case relates to a speech delivered by Radhakrishnan at a public meeting in Athur near Tiruchendur on June 20 during celebrations marking the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
Police alleged that the DMK legislator made inflammatory remarks against CM Vijay during the event, following which a case was registered against him. Soon after the High Court declined to grant him anticipatory bail, police arrested Radhakrishnan.
Reacting to the arrest, DMK MP Kanimozhi accused the state government of using oppressive tactics against the opposition and termed the action "strongly condemnable".
In a post on X, she alleged that Radhakrishnan was arrested while inspecting development works in his constituency, calling it an "utterly anarchic" act by what she described as a "tyrannical government". She asserted that the DMK "will never bow down to such oppressive tactics."
