Do not extend time for SC survey, says federation

There should be no further extension given for the survey of the Scheduled Caste population in Karnataka being conducted by the H.N. Nagamohan Das-headed commission, Samajika Nyayakkagi Parishishta Jatigala Okkoota has urged.

The federation of SC communities, in a statement on Friday, said that extensions have already been given to the commission to complete the process. One more extension will unduly delay the process of coming up with recommendations on international reservation that the commission is tasked with by the State government.

The committee has stated that 91%-92% of the survey has already been completed, and there is no need for further extension, said Basavaraj Kowthal, convener of the federation.

The survey being conducted by the commission will cover 101 SC communities to draw the internal reservation within the broader 17% reservation set aside for the SCs.
