Documentary on freedom fighter Lakshmikanthan Bharathi

Madurai: A documentary titled “Suvadugalai Thedi” about the life and memory of freedom fighter, centenarian, and former district collector Lakshmikanthan Bharathi was released on Thursday.The documentary features picture clippings and original video and re-enactments of Bharathi’s life, highlighting his time in prison as a freedom fighter as well as his time as a district collector for Madurai and other districts.The documentary also talks about how Bharathi worked tirelessly to create the weekly grievance redressal system that is still in use to this day.The release of the documentary was held at Madura College in the presence of district collector Nishant Krishna and Padma Shri awardee and Tamil scholar Solomon Pappaiah. They spoke about how Bharathi was an inspiration to them as well as the current generation.
