Kanpur tobacco tycoon KK Mishra has denied that his son Shivam was driving the Lamborghini involved in a crash, claiming the vehicle was being driven by a hired chauffeur when it malfunctioned and caused the accident that injured a pedestrian and damaged other vehicles.

Speaking to reporters, the tobacco baron said the car was being driven by a man identified as Mohan, while Shivam was seated inside the vehicle.

According to senior Mishra, his son suddenly felt dizzy during the drive, prompting one of the bouncers accompanying them to break open the driver-side door and pull him out.

“My son’s condition deteriorated rapidly. He was unconscious by the time he reached home. We immediately sent him to Delhi, where he is currently undergoing treatment under medical supervision,” KK Mishra said.

Describing the past few days as overwhelming, he added, “I was troubled from two sides. On one hand, the police were harassing us; on the other, my son was seriously unwell, and the car was badly damaged. He had gone out only to check the vehicle along with the driver. The driver was driving the car.”

KK Mishra maintained that his family had committed no wrongdoing and said they would cooperate fully with the investigation.

“Whatever the law requires, we will comply. We will appear whenever we are called. We have done nothing illegal,” he said.

LAWYER DISPUTES POLICE VERSION

Meanwhile, KK Mishra’s lawyer, Dharmendra Singh Dharam, claimed that there were inconsistencies in the police version of events.

He said that Taufiq Ahmed, the injured person who was asked to file a complaint, has written to the court stating that no detailed inquiry was conducted before his statement was taken. “There is no mention of any proper investigation in his application,” the lawyer said.

Shivam’s lawyer, Mrityunjay Mishra, has also echoed the tobacco baron's claim and insisted that the Lamborghini was being driven by a hired driver and not by his client.

CCTV FOOTAGE OF BEFORE AND AFTER CRASH

New CCTV footage surfaced on Tuesday, capturing moments just before and after the accident.

The visuals show the luxury car entering the area on Sunday afternoon, followed shortly by bodyguards rushing to the spot to assist. However, the footage does not establish who was behind the wheel at the time, as the vehicle’s windows were covered with dark tint.

The case escalated on Monday when police registered an FIR initially against an unidentified driver and seized the Lamborghini. As the probe progressed, Shivam’s name later emerged as the person allegedly driving the vehicle.

Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said the driver’s name was not mentioned in the FIR at the outset because the identity of the person at the wheel was not clear at the time of registration.
