Drunk man slits 3-year-old son's throat, hangs self in UP after fight with family

A quiet night in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi turned into a nightmare after a father was found hanging, and his three-year-old son was lying in a pool of blood beside him.

The incident was reported from Dhimarpura village, where Prem Singh, around 38, had gone to attend a wedding in the neighbourhood.

He returned late, and was drunk, according to his family.

“We asked him why he had been drinking. There was a fight his mother also scolded him,” said his wife, Asha.

The argument, family members say, did not last long. But what came after would leave them haunted.

CHILD TAKEN AWAY, DOOR SHUT

In the middle of the night, Prem Singh lifted his three-year-old son Bharat, the youngest in the family and his only son, and took him into another room.

The rest of the family, unaware of what was about to unfold, went back to sleep.

Hours later, a mother’s instinct stirred. Asha woke up and went to bring her son back. The door was locked from the inside.

There was no response to repeated knocks. No sound. No movement.

What she saw next would shatter everything.

WINDOW REVEALS HORROR

Peering through a window, Asha saw her husband hanging from a noose.

“We raised an alarm when we looked inside, the child was lying there, covered in blood,” she said, her voice breaking as she recalled the moment.

The family suspects the child was attacked with a sharp weapon, though the exact details are yet to be confirmed.

POLICE BREAK IN, CONFIRM WORST FEARS

Police reached the spot soon after being alerted. The locked door was broken open.

Inside, the scene was exactly what the family had feared.

Circle Officer Ramveer Singh said, “When we broke the door, the man was hanging and his three-year-old son was lying in a pool of blood.”

“Prima facie, it appears he killed his son first and then died by suicide,” he added.

Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem as police continue their investigation.
