Visakhapatnam: A defence security corps (DSC) jawan deployed at the Indian Navy’s weapon equipment depot in Ashoka Park locality of Vizag died by suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle on Saturday. The deceased, identified as Parag Suresh Rao (42), was a native of Pune, Maharashtra.Police said Suresh had joined DSC after retiring from Indian Army and was deployed at the specialized military logistics and storage facility, which is primarily operated by the Indian Navy, in Vizag city. On Saturday morning, Suresh was found lifeless in a pool of blood with a bullet injury at his workplace. On being informed, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to KGH for autopsy.Police also found a suicide note near the body. “No one is responsible for my extreme step.
I have two children, and I am appealing to authorities to take steps to provide all benefits to my family,” the letter read. As Suresh didn’t mention any reasons for the suicide, police is investigating the case from all angles, including domestic disturbance.About a week ago, 44-year-old Beer Singh, who had also joined DSC after his retirement, shot himself dead with his service revolver at the Naval Base in Rambilli locality of Anakapalle district. Investigation continues to unravel the reason behind the extreme step.
