Bihar's Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha has mandated stringent new measures for urban development projects, emphasizing timely completion, high quality, and transparency. Live video monitoring from offices will replace physical inspections, bolstered by two special flying squad teams for surprise checks.
Patna: Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha ordered new measures to ensure that urban development projects were completed on time while maintaining high quality and transparency. He was chairing a high-level meeting with officials of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (Buidco) here on Tuesday.Sinha said every ongoing and completed scheme under Buidco will be monitored live through video calls directly from offices, eliminating the old practice of physical inspections that allowed room for manipulation or negligence. “Officials will sit at their desks and review actual site progress in real time, ensuring no excuse can hide even minor slippage,” he said.To make monitoring even stronger, two special flying squad teams will be formed at the department level, he said, adding that the teams will carry out surprise checks across the state, mainly focusing on the CM’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme.
“Their job is to ensure clean and honest execution, maintain top-quality work, and remove any chance of complaints,” Sinha said.At the meeting, Buidco managing director Animesh Kumar Parashar gave updates on key projects. Special attention was given to the Namami Gange programme. Out of 39 approved sewage treatment plants (STPs), 21 are already completed, 13 are under construction, and the remaining six will be completed before the 2026 monsoon, he said.
For the completed plants, experts are continuously watching through geo-tagged photos and live video links. The deputy CM stressed that agencies running these plants must share full staff details, including names, posts, qualifications, and phone numbers, so that attendance and performance can be easily checked. He also suggested solving the shortage of engineers in Buidco by borrowing staff from the road construction and rural works departments, if needed.Sinha, who is also the minister of the urban development and housing department, also demanded district-wise lists of every completed and ongoing scheme to enable swift, targeted field checks by flying squads and senior officers.
