Patna: Timely detection of breast cancer and advances in modern treatment can significantly improve survival rates, experts said on the concluding day of the Association of Breast Surgeons of India (ABSI) conference, SkillCon-2026, on Sunday.Demonstrations on advanced surgical procedures, precision medicine and immunotherapy were given to participating delegates.Organising chairman and senior cancer surgeon Dr V P Singh said breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women and stressed that rising cases in the country could be checked by following proper screening protocols. Dr Rishikesh Parameshwar from England said modern technologies are extremely useful for young doctors and can help improve treatment outcomes.Organising secretary Dr Aakash Kumar Singh said mortality from breast cancer can be significantly reduced through early detection. Video workshops were also organised to train surgeons in current operative techniques and multidisciplinary approaches.A poster competition featuring 40 entries from postgraduate and graduate doctors was held. IGIMS doctor Dr Namita Mittal won the first prize, followed by Dr Komal Bharti and Dr Juhi Kumari.Speaking at the concluding session, Dr V P Singh and Dr Rahul Kumar Chaudhary said hospitals in Bihar remain committed to bringing technological advancements in healthcare.
