Ipswich Town are heading back to the Premier League and they made sure to celebrate in style.

A commanding 3-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday sealed automatic promotion, capping off a remarkable turnaround season.

But the real party kicked off after the final whistle, with none other than Ed Sheeran at the heart of it.

The Ipswich minority shareholder was spotted in the dressing room, pint of Guinness in hand, belting out his debut hit ‘The A-Team’ alongside players and staff as celebrations hit full swing after the win.

Job Done Early at Portman Road

Ipswich wasted no time getting down to business.

Goals from George Hirst and Jaden Philogene inside the opening 10 minutes effectively settled the contest early at Portman Road. With the crowd already in party mode, Kasey McAteer added a third late on to put the result beyond doubt.

The victory ensured Ipswich held off competition from Millwall to secure second place in the Championship, joining Coventry in earning promotion to the top flight.

From Struggles to Success

This promotion marks an immediate return to the Premier League after a tough campaign last season, where Ipswich managed just four wins in 38 matches following their long-awaited return to the top tier after 22 years.

Rather than panic, the club stuck by manager Kieran McKenna and that faith has paid off spectacularly.

The former Manchester United assistant has now overseen three promotions in four seasons, guiding the Tractor Boys through one of the most impressive rebuilds in recent English football.

“This has probably been the hardest one, if I’m honest, so it means an awful lot," McKenna said.

“We’ve had to try and rebuild this team under difficult circumstances… I think we deserve to be where we are today."
