Educationist who floated about 65 institutions, no more

Gadag: Educationist Prof BF Dandin, 92, who floated about 65 educational institutions across North Karnataka, died here after age related issues on Saturday night. Dandin was honoured with various prestigious awards, including Karnataka Rajyotsava and others.

Born in Dyamunasi village, Ron taluk, he became a professor in a private institution. Seeing the poor state of students, he resigned as professor and established a free hostel in the name of Kanakadas and Kanakadas Shikshana Samiti (KSS) in 1965. Now Samiti has over 65 institutions, including two CBSE schools, five primary, 10 high schools, eight PU colleges, six degree colleges, 11 post-graduation centres, BSW, DEd, BEd colleges. He is survived by two sons, three daughters and others.
