At least eight people were injured, including one in critical condition, in a suspected cylinder blast in southeastern Bengaluru’s Adugodi on Friday, police said. The critically injured is a minor boy.
The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. in a small house within a compact settlement in Chinnaiahnapalaya. The police control room received a call about the blast at approximately 8:23 a.m., and the fire department was alerted at around 8:25 a.m. Two fire tenders were dispatched immediately, according to sources in the department.
At least three makeshift houses in the cluster collapsed due to the force of the blast. The Fire and Emergency Services Department is currently carrying out debris clearance, while police have cordoned off the area. All the injured have been taken to a nearby hospital.
“Preliminary investigations indicate it was a cylinder blast, and the inquiry is ongoing. Debris clearance is still in progress,” a fire department source told The Hindu.
Senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sarah Fathiema, have reached the site and are examining the scene.
