Elaborate arrangements are in place at a venue near the Vijayamangalam toll plaza in Perundurai taluk, where Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay is scheduled to address a campaign meeting between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday (December 18, 2025).
The actor-turned-politician is to fly from Chennai to Coimbatore, travel by road to the venue, address an estimated gathering of 35,000 people, and return to Coimbatore to board a flight back to Chennai. The party has asked its cadre not to follow his vehicle along the 68-km stretch and to adhere strictly to police instructions.
Cadre and the public have been advised to use designated parking areas near the venue, while pregnant women, children, and the elderly have been requested not to attend the meeting. According to the party, 60 CCTV cameras, ambulances, and medical teams will be deployed, and adequate drinking water facilities and toilets have been arranged. More than 1,000 police personnel are expected to be deployed for security and traffic management, in addition to private security arranged by the party.
On Wednesday (December 17), Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha inspected the venue and reviewed the security arrangements.
The meeting is part of Mr. Vijay’s revised ‘Meet the People’ Statewide tour, resumed after an 81-day break following the stampede at a rally in Karur on September 27, in which 41 persons died. This will be Mr. Vijay’s first public rally in the State since the Karur tragedy, and he will address the gathering from the rooftop of his campaign bus. The campaign also assumes significance as it marks a key appearance for K.A. Sengottaiyan, chief coordinator of the party’s high-level administrative committee, who recently joined the TVK after quitting the AIADMK.
