An elderly man was discovered unconscious by a security guard, tied inside a locked car with a "Government of Maharashtra" sticker at the Taj Mahal's western gate parking area in Uttar Pradesh's Agra.

After noticing the car, bearing a Maharashtra number plate, suspiciously parked for a long time, the guard, upon closer inspection, found an elderly man with his hands and feet fastened with cloth. The intense heat inside the vehicle had further worsened his condition.

Immediate actions were taken as the guard called for help, and the car window was broken to rescue the man. "The elderly man was taken out of the car after breaking it open," tourism inspector Kunwar Singh said.

After being rescued, the man was given water but was unable to communicate. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. At present, the medical staff are trying to stabilise his condition.

An eyewitness, Mohammad Aslam, a local tourist guide, said, "We saw an elderly man locked inside the car. He couldn’t speak, and his hands and feet were tied with cloth."

A preliminary probe suggested a family from Maharashtra visiting the Taj Mahal might have left the man in the car.
