EPFO notifies Employees Provident Funds Scheme 2026, capping mandatory employee PF contribution at Rs 1,800 per month on wages up to Rs 15,000, extra contributions now voluntary

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has revamped its provident fund contribution rules, capping the mandatory employee contribution at Rs 1,800 per month while making any additional contribution voluntary.
Under the new Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme, 2026, notified on Wednesday, employees will be required to contribute 12 per cent of wages up to the statutory wage ceiling of Rs 15,000 a month. This translates to a mandatory monthly PF contribution of Rs 1,800, irrespective of how much an employee earns.
