The Health and AYUSH departments will work in coordination on epidemic prevention.
A workshop on epidemic prevention, held under the aegis of the high power committee constituted by the Health department to streamline epidemic prevention, has called for coordinated activities between modern medicine and AYUSH departments so that patients can benefit.
Patients visiting AYUSH facilities and who may be suspected of having any infectious disease like dengue should be referred to hospitals of modern medicine immediately. This was important as early identification and treatment is important when it comes to infectious diseases. The patient information must be passed on to the Health department too, it was decided.
It was also decided at the meeting that the pamphlets and posters published by the Directorate of Health Services in order to create public awareness against various diseases should be displayed at AYUSH institutions.
The meeting assessed that the government and the private health sector needed to work together at the grassroots level for better and effective epidemic prevention. The high power committee chairman, S.S. Lal, presided over. Senior Health and AYUSH officials were present.
