Iran's top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the United States had committed several "major violations" of the Islamabad peace agreement.

Iran has issued a strong warning after fresh US attacks on Wednesday, saying it will take “decisive actions" to protect its national security. It also accused Washington of violating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The US attacked Iran while the funeral of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was underway. He was killed in the February 28 strike.
Iran’s top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the United States had committed several “major violations" of the agreement. In a post on X, he described the attack as violations, including “violating Iranian adjustments in the Strait", “persistent threats of further strikes", “reinstating oil sanctions", “attacks on southern Iran" and “continued Zionist aggression" in Lebanon.
He also issued a strong message, writing, “The era of bullying and extortion is over. It leads nowhere. We don’t fold."
Iran Dy foreign minister warns US
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi also criticised the United States over its decision to revoke the waiver on Iranian oil exports and the latest attacks on the country.
In a post on X, Gharibabadi said the US actions amounted to “blatant violations" of Articles 1, 2 and 10 of the Islamabad MoU between Tehran and Washington.
He further alleged that Washington had repeatedly violated the agreement because of the actions of the “Zionist regime" in Lebanon and threatening statements against Iran.
“Iran, while issuing a serious warning regarding the consequences of America’s breach of the agreement, will take decisive actions to safeguard its national interests and security," he said.
Iran military promises ‘crushing response’
Iran’s Khatam-al-Anbiya Central Headquarters strongly condemned the latest US strikes in southern Iran, describing them as a “blatant act of aggression". The military said the attacks took place while the funeral procession of the former supreme leader’s body was being held in Iraq.
In a statement, it warned that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran would deliver a “crushing response" to the US actions.
The military also accused Washington of showing a lack of commitment to the MoU. It said Iran would not allow any outside interference in the management of the Strait of Hormuz. “It is reiterated that the only safe passage for commercial ships and oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz is the route designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran," the statement said.
Strikes reported across southern Iran
The military statement came after reports of multiple strikes in southern Iran. At least three locations were targeted. Six explosions were reported on Qeshm Island, the largest island near the Strait of Hormuz.
Seven to nine strikes were reported at Sirik Port, which overlooks the strategic waterway. Several people were reportedly injured and taken to a hospital in Minab.
In Bandar Abbas, at least 10 explosions were reported. Several wharfs and a telecommunications tower were also said to have been targeted.
US says more than 80 targets hit
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces had completed the latest round of strikes after hitting more than 80 targets with precision-guided munitions.
According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted Iranian air defence systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites and anti-ship missile capabilities. It also said more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) small boats in and around the Strait of Hormuz were struck to reduce Iran’s ability to continue attacks on international commercial shipping.
CENTCOM said the strikes were carried out in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels that passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.
In retaliation, Iran has launched attacks on Gulf countries including Kuwait and Bahrain.
